What is a Point of Sail?

This is usually a sailing school on water. There you can view the Varianta, receive specialized advice and make a test sailing. Naturally a POS sells the Varianta at the same price as it costs online. And a POS will also teach you to sail if you are still unsure of tiller and sheet!  You can find a POS somewhere nearby.

 

If I am bringing a trailer to pick up the boat what do I need to consider in advance?

From this drawing you can take the dimensions you require to enable us to load your Varianta and you can return safely home. Trailer sizes can be downloaded from the Documents section.

How can I meet other Varianta sailors? 

The meeting point for all Varianta fans is our Community. You will find this an invaluable source of information.  Videos, tips, tricks, photos, stories. You can even arrange to take part in the Varianta BBQ weekend, the Varianta smooch-party or the Varianta America's Cup Event.

 

What is a Standard Varianta?

She is ready to sail. Mainsail, roller jib, sheets, halyards are all on board.  Further equipment to make your Varianta a cozy weekend hideaway can be ordered from our shop page.  Office closed? Simply browse through the shop and send us an email via the contact button.

 

Do I need a license?  

No! Everyone can sail a Varianta however, local regulations must be observed.

Where can I test sail the Varianta?

It is possible to test sail the Varianta at any Varianta Point.  Test sailing dates can be arranged at any Varianta Point.

 

Can the Varianta sink or capsize?  

No! Varianta is equipped with buoyancy aids and is unsinkable.   The T-Speed ballast keel not only gives the Varianta performance but also a high righting moment. The Varianta cannot capsize.

 

Is the Varianta a recognized boat class with fixed rules or can I equip the vessel as I wish?

The Varianta is a free boat for free sailors. Everything is possible! However, as there are already calls for Varianta regattas Varianta-class rules may be published in the near future so that one can race fairly against one another.

How can I move my Varianta over land?

The Varianta is trailerable and can be towed with any car.  Both the boat trailer and transport covers are available from the shop.

 

Can I compete in Regattas with the Varianta?

Yes! The judel/vrolijk & co design gives the Varianta very good sailing characteristics. With the performance kit (Genoa gear pack + straps + spinnaker sack) your Varianta is ready to race. The performance kit Sporty including the spinnaker sail (29 m2) is available from the shop.

How can I mark my Varianta to avoid underwater painting?

From this drawing you can measure the exact position of the waterline and mark it on the boat. The drawing for the water line can be found under Documents as a downloadable pdf-file.

Can I have my sail maker produce a custom sail for me?

Of course, but the basic equipment always includes mainsail and jib. The Varianta cannot be purchased without sails.
